About

Tullar School is one of the oldest elementary schools in the Neenah Joint School District.  The old records at the school indicate the first regular meeting being called December 18, 1858.  The land surrounding Tullar School in the 1860s was cow pastures and farmland for miles in every direction. Tullar was originally a "rural" school meaning it was for students living in the town of Neenah on farms.  Tullar School is said to be named after the Jackson Tullar family who donated the land where the school was built.  Jackson Tullar was a Neenah High School graduate in 1877.

In 1941, a two-classroom structure was built with a multipurpose room in the basement.  The first addition to the school was built in 1953 added two additional classrooms and bathrooms.  A second addition was built to include more classrooms and the gym in 1957.  More classrooms, offices, and cafeteria were added in 1960.  In 1962, the rural schools joined the city of Neenah schools to form the Neenah Joint School District.  The next addition in 1966 was the largest addition was made, removing the old frame structure from 1941 and replacing it with the current configuation.  Additional changes are planned after voters passed a referendum in 2020.

Today, Tullar Elementary school currently has around 400 students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.  These students are lead by Principal Diane Galow, who has been in the position since 2013.  Tullar's academic backbone is their awesome teachers!  The employees also use a PBIS system, in which students are incorporated into a school-wide community that enforces positive character traits.  The parent teacher organization (PTO) is a strong force at Tullar, being the spearhead for many of their ambitious projects.  From winter snow forts to Jump Rope for Heart to YMCA after school programs there is no lack of excitement.  Tullar is host to many events that are interactive and encourage students to expand their horizons and test new interests. Just some of the events held in the past included: Jump rope for heart, Halloween party, Basketball: teachers v students, Field day, Bike Hike, Brewers or Timber Rattlers game, various field trips, guest speakers (science, art, performance), 5th to 1st-grade buddies, 5th-grade auctions, Presidents parade, States parade, 100th day event, Scholastic book fair.

As a whole, Tullar is an exemplary elementary that has been recognized by the state for many of its achievements.
